Major investment in the Arctic: Nine research projects receive funding
«Our project engages Indigenous organizations, socially engaged researchers, biologists and environmental engineers in (i) instrumental interdisciplinarity where we bring knowledge systems, local observations, and science and community experts together to co-create awareness and solutions; and (ii) critical interdisciplinarity, where existing models and frameworks for conducting Arctic aquatic research are re-imagined with local participation and bolstered by intersectoral communication strategies.»

FROST got funded!
Arctic lakes are changing fast, and FROST is uncovering how warmer winters and heavier snow affect freshwater ecosystems and communities. Co-led by Professor Milla Rautio, the project partners with Indigenous communities to study impacts on fish, local food systems, and traditional ice-based activities, combining fieldwork, long-term monitoring, and cutting-edge modeling.
