Catherine Girard

Principal Investigator · FROST
Associate Professor · Université Laval · CA

Catherine is mainly involved in the research Module 2 · Food webs and focus on microbial ecology.

In brief

Catherine studies the impacts of microbes on human and ecosystem health in a changing Arctic. Using molecular and bioinformatic tools, combined with ecology, geochemistry and local knowledge, she explore how thawing of frozen habitats can release microbes into downstream habitats. She's interested in understanding how these microbes disperse in watersheds, impact foodwebs, and how they may impact ecosystemic services and health in the North.
