Kimmo Kahilainen

Kimmo co-leads the FROST project. He is mainly involved in the Module 2 · Biology (Foods Webs) and will focus on fish ecology and mercury accumulation in the food web.

In brief

Dr Kimmo Kahilainen is a professor of Environmental Research at Lammi Biological Station, University of Helsinki. His is educated as fish and fisheries biologist with research focus on fish communities and food webs in subarctic and boreal regions. He is using range of traditional fish tools, mercury analysis, stable isotopes and fatty acids. Seasonal and more recently year-round studies have been in centre of his research more than 25 years.

Infrastructure
 

Dr Kahilainen leads total mercury laboratory at Lammi Biological Station that also has services on water chemistry and different facilities for researchers in boreal landscape.
